Geoworks names new VP of Marketing


ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 1996--Geoworks (Nasdaq/National Market System Symbol: GWRX), a leading provider of operating systems and application software to the emerging consumer computing device (CCD) market, today named Grover Righter to the newly created position of Vice President of Marketing. Reporting directly to Gordon Mayer, Geoworks President and CEO, Righter will be responsible for developing product and market strategies, as well as non-OEM relationships.

Righter joins Geoworks from Santa Cruz Operation, a $200 million publicly held software company, where, as Vice President of Strategic Marketing, he drove the direction and positioning of the company. Prior positions held at SCO include a tenure as Vice President of Marketing - Americas and Vice President of Product Management.

He also held the positions of Director of NetWare Products Group and Director of Hybrid Systems. In addition, Righter worked as a Standards Consultant for both AT&T and Unisys.

Righter earned a bachelor of science in computer science from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He also served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard. About Geoworks
